3 Types of Sterilization Processes Using Plastic Sterilization Trays
Sterilization is a process that kills any microorganisms or other contaminants on surgical instruments after they have been used.
The three main methods of sterilization used to kill these living organisms are gas, steam, or chemical. Doctors sterilizing surgical instruments will typically use the steam method of sterilization by lining the instruments on sterilization trays and then placing them into an autoclave. Sterilization trays contain silicon pin mats to organize and secure the instruments in the tray. After the tray is placed into the autoclave, steam gets released inside the autoclave and kills all of the organisms remaining on the instruments.
